Popularly known writer Chetan Bhagat’s book, Half Girlfriend, will soon be adopted on screen starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead by director Mohit Suri. Like it is known, the first choice for the female lead role was offered to Katrina Kaif who later rejected even after being friends with both Mohit and Arjun. In fact, Arjun told sources Katrina is a really good friend and they are frequently in touch on Blackberry messenger. Then what went wrong from Katrina Kaif’s side?
As per a column by Rajeev Masand, Mohit had his eyes on Katrina and thought she would fit into the shoes of the character. And as per sources, the Baar Baar Dekho actress read the script and indeed appreciated but denied as she had the complex of her screen age opposite Arjun and that would lead the film to lose out on business.
Katrina Kaif, who is one of the leading ladies of Bollywood perceives herself elder than her age and believes she doesn’t fit with actors of her age or younger. Katrina has worked with almost all the senior actors like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar thinks she doesn’t fit with actors like Siddharth and Aditya after the loss of Baar Baar Dekho and Fitoor.
On the other side, Mohit was impressed by her honesty and then thought of moving out from Katrina Kaif to the bubbly Kapoor girl Shraddha who he now thinks can fit well into the character.
As per sources, the movie has been shot and will soon release by 2017.
Katrina Kaif positively accepted what she felt was right for her but could have given a thought over Arjun’s and Kareena’s chemistry in Ki and Ka despite the age difference between the two.
Let’s hope Shraddha justifies the character well for Half Girlfriend opposite Arjun Kapoor.
