NEW DELHI: The fabulous foursome, as they will henceforth be known, of Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin, travelled to the capital city to promote their romcom ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
Ranbir and Deepika have been doing the promotional rounds, travelling from one city to another in a very hectic schedule. So it was only natural that the film’s other two actors joined in on all the fun. The film, directed by Ayan Mukherjee and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is a coming-of-age story about friendship, career, love and life.
The director has said that ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will appeal to all age groups, since “all emotions are universal…the relationship between two friends, the emotional value…falling in love, falling out of love, wanting to take off.” Though the film is about young people, it is “not only for young people,” Ayan added.
“All films are set in a certain age group, but that does not mean that the film belongs to only that age bracket,” he explained.
His first film, ‘Wake Up Sid’ was also about a young boy’s journey of self-discovery. Ayan says though this is his preferred genre, “I absolutely don’t intend to make these relationship films forever. If I get the opportunity to make my third film, I want to step away from this genre. I would love to make a Superman film!”
Ranbir, on his part, said he was lucky to be working with directors like Ayan and Anurag. “I am grateful that I got to work with such good directors. I was at the right place at the right time… I got these opportunities and I was intelligent enough to grab it. I think these (Anurag Basu, Ayan Mukerji) are really interesting filmmakers. They have great things to say through their movies… I just kind of tag along on their vision,” said Ranbir.
