According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, after the cameo in Anubhav Sinha’s Tum Bin 2, the actress has been approached for a key role in Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming production, the Reema Kagti’s sports-drama movie, Gold. The movie is based on athlete Balbir Singh, who won the first ever gold medal at Olympics after Independence. A source informed Mirror, ”Mouni will be seen in a completely different avatar to suit the era. She will film for 20-25 days in August and is one of the few female characters in the otherwise male-dominated narrative. She will be shooting extensively with Akshay.”
Director Reema Kagti has been working on the script of the movie for the last two years.
The source also said, ”It is scripted by Rajesh Devraj and is a fictional take on the momentous game. Hockey will feature prominently in the plot but it is a strong human drama. Gold follows 12 crucial years in India’s history as well.” Reportedly, Mouni will be seen in a different avatar, distinct from her glamorous one and so it will be interesting to see how she is able to portray a role in Gold, which is a historical venture.
The movie is scheduled to release in August 2018.
