Naseeruddin Shah launched a book- ‘Beloved Delhi’ written by Delhi based author Saif Mahmood in an event hosted by senior journalist Priyanka Sinha Jha in Mumbai.
Dr.Mahmood is a Delhi based literary personality, lawyer and activist who has immense love for Urdu Poetry.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah who was the chief guest read few excerpts from the book and spoke about the origin of Urdu language.
The book documents the life and work of the finest classical Urdu Poets: Mirza Rafi Sauda, Khwaja Mir Dard, Mir Taqi Mir, Asadullah Khan Ghalib, Momin Khan Momin, Zafar, Zauq and Mirza Daagh.
Post the unveiling of the cover of the book, , the author Saif Mehmood was in conversation with Writer and noted lyricist Kausar Munir where they discussed these Urdu poets and their poetry.
Well known photographer, Anant Raina briefly described the beautiful locations in Delhi where most of the above mentioned poets lived, composed and performed.
