MUMBAI: The bubbly Bollywood newcomer Parineeti Chopra, who charmed us as a chatterbox in her debut film ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ and shocked most in her tough avatar for Aditya Chopra’s ‘Ishaqzaade’, has surprisingly given up a chance to star opposite superstar Akshay Kumar!
Here’s how it happened: While her ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ co-star Ranveer Singh has signed on films outside the Yash Raj banner, Parineeti is under a bond with YRF. The younger Chopra sister was apparently very keen on signing the Hindi remake of a Tamil blockbuster ‘Thuppakki’ starring Akshay Kumar.
In turn we hear, that the ‘Khiladi’ Kumar himself was extremely interested in working with the ‘Ishaqzaade girl’ as he was quite impressed with her previous work. The remake Producer Vipul Shah placed an offer on behalf of director A.R. Murugadoss (who’s most known for his debut Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’).
Parineeti, however, is busy shooting for Yash Raj banner’s new film with director Maneesh Sharma opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
And thus, even though highly interested, Parineeti was not allowed to take up the project with Akshay.
An insider revealed, “Parineeti was ready to shuttle between the two projects without letting either suffer. But she was told in no uncertain terms, that she would have to stay committed full-time to Maneesh Sharma’s film, just like the film’s leading man Sushant Singh Rajput who has not been permitted to do any other project while shooting for the Yash Raj film.”
Confirming this director A.R. Murugadoss said, “We tried really hard for Parineeti. But she was committed by contract to a project with Yash Raj Films.”
And now, as we had reported a few days ago, Sonakshi Sinha has bagged the project.
