The ban on Pakistani artists from working in India has become a serious issue by all means. The issue has become serious by all means and the political party had also stated Karan Johar‘s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan will not see smooth release in the country. Political parties had also stated that Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Raees’ which stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan will not be released.
Amid the heated debate over banning Pakistani actors, Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) have come up with a shocking and strong decision. Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) have decided not to release any movies that star Pakistani artistes. As per decision, the movies will not be released in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa.
Addressing the media, COEAI’s president Nitin Datar said, “Today, the meeting of Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India took place and it was decided that keeping in mind the patriotic feelings and the national interest of our country, we request all our members and exhibitors to refrain from screening movies which have involvement of any Pakistani artist, technicians, directors, music directors etc.”
“We are also in the process of requesting other associations connected with the film industry to support the sentiments in the best interest of our nation.” He said that while the decision to not screen certain films would cause monetary losses for the theatre owners, there might have been greater damage if their screens were vandalised. “The association is not going to screen any movie and the decision implies from today until things don’t get normal. States included under the association are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa,” Datar added.
However, the decision given by Cinema Owners Association is reportedly not legally binding. Any ban on the film is only considered if it is given by either the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) or the court of law. Also, the ban put by Cinema Owners Association is in some areas, which will not affect the film majorly. The Box Office collections of the film will mainly suffer in the above-mentioned regions.
So the ban imposed on not allowing to release the films with Pakistani actors will not likely affect the release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor and Fawad Khan.
The film is slated to release on October 28!
