Reasons Behind The Shah Rukh Khan-Karan Johar Koffee War!

Shah Rukh Khan Main coverOnce upon a time, there lived two best friends in Bollywood. One was a megastar, and the other was a celebrated, much-in-demand, hotshot director and producer. The two made multiple money-spinning movies, and were the toast of the town.

So much so, that there were even rumours and insinuations about their sexuality. People couldn’t believe two men could be that close, and have that much respect and love for one another, unless they were romantically involved. We are talking, of course, about Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar.

Why They Fell Out:

Buzz in the industry, for a long time, has been that SRK and Karan Johar do not see eye-to-eye today. There has been a lot of conjecture regarding the reasons for their alleged fall-out. Speculators have cried themselves hoarse, citing this and that reason. However, we may never know for sure the reason behind the split, but we’re listing out possible things that led to trouble in paradise.

Something brewing in the Koffee cup: For all the previous four seasons, SRK made appearances on buddy KJo’s super hit, super bitchy, super caustic TV chat show, Koffee With Karan. This season, however, shocked everyone, as SRK didn’t make it to the couch. In fact, his arch rival Salman Khan featured in the opening episode, and Aamir Khan too came on the show, but there was no sign of King Khan anywhere. So much so, that SRK is all the more miffed with Karan, because he was not approached for a part in Shuddhi, which, as we have been reporting, has been offered to almost half of Bollywood.

The Salman Factor: The age-old SRK-Salman rivalry has been spoken about so much, that there’s probably nothing left to say there. What added insult to injury was Karan’s over-fraternising ways with Shah Rukh Khan’s enemy numero uno, Salman Khan, and his appearance on said TV chat show.

Filmy Promotions: Like most other reality shows, sadly this season, Koffee With Karan went down the movie promotion route, pairing potential guests with people they’ve worked with in the recent past. Therefore, Ranveer Singh appeared with his Gunday co-star Arjun Kapoor, Anushka Sharma came on with her Bombay Velvet director Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akhtar made an appearance with Vidya Balan to promote Shaadi Ke Side Effects etc.

SRK’s Happy New Year team Farah Khan and Abhishek Bachchan came on the show, but perhaps SRK was left out.

Prior Commitments:

Shah Rukh Khan, admittedly, is a busy man. Possibly among the busiest in Bollywood. That with his hectic schedules for Happy New Year, and his IPL commitments (the sixth edition of the super successful, star-studded IPL is due to begin in April), Shah Rukh perhaps bowed out due to time constraints.

Well, whatever the reason behind the fallout, fans are indeed mourning the loss of such a beautiful friendship, and also the chance to see Shah Rukh Khan and his former bestie share (small) screen space.
