Akshaye Khanna seems to be one of the top contenders for the role. He was last seen in Dishoom after 4 years. The 41-years-old actor has currently been shooting for Boney Kapoor’s next production, the tentatively titled Mom with Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Akshaye Khanna, son of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, isn’t one of the most conventional actors we have in Bollywood. Talking about his gap of 4 years, he was quoted saying, “Once I was in front of the camera, I felt like I was able to breathe again, there was a sense of belonging.” He further added, “I wanted to test the waters before taking on bigger roles. I had to earn my stripes again, after being away for four years. I had to start from scratch like any newcomer.”
It will surely be interesting to see Akshaye playing part of Ranbir’s onscreen father as late Sunil Dutt.
Ranbir will begin shooting for the biopic next year and is currently prepping up for the part. Sonam Kapoor and Anushka Sharma are also a part of the project.
