We all know that upcoming romantic drama film Hero is not only special to Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty because it is their debut film in Bollywood, but it is also important to film’s producer Salman Khan and director Nikhil Advani. Bollywood’s Dabangg star Salman Khan is paying a lot of attention and his time to get his film Hero promoted right. At a recent interview, the film’s director revealed that Salman Khan trimmed Hero by 30 minutes, and just in case you were wondering why, well, here’s why!
Apparently, before the making, film’s director Nikhil Advani called Salman Khan and asked him to tell him what he wanted. Nikhil told Salman Khan that he cannot finish the film if he doesn’t sit with him for the film’s edit. Nikhil told Salman that he needs to sit with him and tell him what is right and what is wrong. Then Salman Khan sat with the director and trimmed the film by 30 minutes. “He sat, he cut out 30 minutes of the film,. The film is now 2.04 hours. Someone recently asked me what is ‘Hero’ in one word and I said ‘Salman Khan’,” Nikhil Advani said.
Just when everyone was wondering if Salman Khan’s this little interference hurt Nikhil’s confidence as a filmmaker, he waved off all the doubts by saying that it totally satisfied him as a director. Nikhil said, “What it allowed me to do is while ‘Hero’ was being made, I also made ‘Katti Batti’. ‘Hero’ is a producer’s film, ‘Katti Batti’ is a director’s film”.
Produced by Salman Khan, Sooraj Pancholi plays the role of a boy brought up and saved by the streets of Mumbai, who kidnaps Radha, daughter of the formidable Chief of Police in Hero. The story tells us how in their journey, the two end up falling for each other, not caring about the odds that separate them. The film hits the theatres on September 11, 2015. Matter of fact, Nikhil’s Katti Batti, starring Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan also releases in September.
