MUMBAI: When director JP Dutta’s patriotic film ‘Border’ released in 1997, it became a huge hit. The story captured the resilient Indian spirit in full effectiveness. Now the director has decided to go ahead with a sequel to the film.
‘Border’ depicted real-life events from the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The sequel too will be based on real-life events, but it is not known from which war.
Sunny Deol, who played a Sikh character in the original film, will return for this film, but not as a Sikh character. He will still be seen as a commanding officer.
A statement said, “We are happy to announce that Sunny Deol will be part of the starcast. Other names are in the deliberation stage. However, for now Sunny has been roped in for a pivotal role, since he was an integral part of Border.”
The other actors involved in ‘Border’ were Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff and Tabu. It is now anyone’s guess whether any of them will return for the sequel.
The ‘Border’ sequel is scheduled to go on floors by the end of October.
