Satish Kaushik Set To Roll Career’s First Comic Caper

Satish Kaushik must have directed family dramas and have made audiences laugh with his comic timings in many films, but the director has not directed a single comic caper himself. He is set to roll ‘Gang Of Ghosts.’

MUMBAI: Satish Kaushik is best remembered for his role as Calendar in Shekhar Kapoor’s ‘Mr India’. And who can forget him playing Chanda Mama to Akshay Kumar in ‘Mr. And Mrs. Khiladi.’ These are just a few of the comic roles, the actor-producer-director has donned over his career.

While, he has directed several family dramas, the comic actor has never attempted directing a full-fledged comedy. But now, Satish Kaushik has taken it upon him to make a mark in the genre best known to him as an actor.

Satish Kaushik is all set to direct ‘Gang Of Ghosts’ which is a remake of the Bengali comic caper ‘Bhooter Bhabishyat’ which was the biggest hit in Bengali Cinema in 2012.

He is not only directing ‘Gang Of Ghosts’, but also penning the dialogues for the film. The versatile actor-director, has penned dialogues of Kundan Shah’s hit cult classic ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ way back in 1983.

The film is currently being shot and stars Mahie Gill, Anupam Kher, Meena Chopra, Chunky Pandey and Saurabh Shukla.

Venus Records and Tapes Pvt. Ltd is producing the film.

Whether the comic master who has entertained with his zany act in several films succeeds as a good comedy director like his counterparts, David Dhavan and the ‘Golmaal’ guy Rohit Shetty, will have to be seen.
