[tps_footer]Actor Kiku Sharda who plays the character of ‘Palak’ from Comedy Nights With Kapil is facing legal charges for hurting religious sentiments. The religious group Dera Sacha Sauda have filed the complaint as the actor hurt their sentiments by imitating their religious leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the episode of the show that aired on December 27, 2015. Earlier as well the group had protested against Kiku Sharda for another show of his called F.I.R. and now they have taken legal action by filing an actual FIR against him.

According to reports Kiku Sharda is being booked under section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting it’s religion or religious belief). His mimic act of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh did not settle well with followers of Sirsa headquartered Dera Sacha Sauda which led to this legal action. Looks like 2016 has already begun with religious controversies following up 2015 which was full of hassle due to the intolerance debate.

No official statements have been made by Kiku Sharda yet. However the actor did tweet an apology to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his followers. The tweet read, “Dosto the act on TV was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. My apologies to @Gurmeetramrahim ji and his followers. Let’s spread happiness.” Nonetheless the tweet remained useless as the protests continued and the legal complaint has not been taken back.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his religious group Dera Sacha Sauda have gained lot of name over the past few years due to his controversial film ‘Messenger of God’ and ‘Messenger of God 2’. Both the films were highly controversial in nature due to its delicate storyline which showed the religious establishment of their group.
