Sonam Kapoor was last seen in powerful character of a brave-hearted air hostess who saved hundreds of lives in ‘Neerja’. The movie gave a big push to Sonam’s career as well as brought her acting skills in the forefront. Next, Sonam is going to be seen in Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Padman’ which is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantham, famously known as the India’s Menstruation Man.
The film has generated a lot of curiosity and interest because of the subject of the film as well as its powerful starcast. Reportedly, the theatrical and distribution rights of the film has already been sold at a whopping amount.
To pique your excitement, there is some other news related to the movie and Sonam. Sonam will be seen portraying the role of a tabla player. It is reported that Sonam Kapoor is taking training from a 28-year-old tabla player and percussionist Mukta Madan Raste for two months now. Being a character actor, she is taking time out and taking lessons to learn the nuances of playing the instrument. It is further reported that Sonam Kapoor is learning an instrument for a film when she does not really need to.
The shooting of the film has already begun since a month with Akshay and the other leading lady, Radhika Apte in Indore. Sonam will join the cast and crew of Padman in Madhya Pradesh early next week.
This story is already a part of Akki’s wife and actor-turned-columnist Twinkle Khanna in her second book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. In fact, Padman is also the first movie under her production banner, Mrs. Funnybones Movies.
The film is also rumoured to star Amitabh Bachchan, a regular collaborator of director R. Balki, who will share the screen space with Akshay after 12 years.
