MUMBAI: Kajol, ever the intellectual Bollywood superstar was the perfect celebrity to launch celebrated Indian author Amish’s latest book: ‘The Oath of the Vayuputras’.
‘The Oath of the Vayuputras’ is the third installment of the very popular ‘Shiva’ series of books, published by Westland Ltd. Seen at the book launch at Crossword bookstore at Kemps Corner was Kajol, looking radiant in a satin grey jumpsuit. Also present at the launch were International director Shekhar Kapur, Anil Dharker and the author himself.
The third installment in the Meluha series was launched amidst much fanfare, where Kajol couldn’t help gushing about the previous books and Amish’s simplistic yet effective style of writing. “They are really simply written. It’s that kind that interests my daughter and me,” she said.
Director of international blockbusters like ‘Paani’, ‘Elizabeth’ and Indian films like ‘Mr. India’ and ‘Bandit Queen’, Shekhar Kapur was quick to award the title of “India’s literary pop star” to Amish.
Anil Dharker wasn’t far behind in praising the literary genius of an Indian author like Amish. “What we are seeing today is publishing phenomenon.”
Speaking at the launch, Amish said, “I am excited and slightly nervous for the launch. I hope the readers get the sense of completion from this third book of the Shiva Trilogy.”
