JAMMU: Priyanka Chopra seems to have taken the rue-blue Bollywood route to superstar-dom, making trips to religious places prior to a film’s release, as is the wont in Bollywood.
The Punjabi actress was recently spotted at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, paying her respects at the holy cave shrine. She was accompanied by her family members, as she made the trek to Katra, the base camp of the shrine, to take part in the Maha Kali yajna.
She reportedly trekked on foot to reach the shrine and had a special ‘darshan’ of the goddess.
Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that Priyanka, a self-proclaimed animal lover, has adopted a baby lioness at the Jharkhand zoo.
A source reveals: “Priyanka has adopted a baby lioness at a Jharkhand zoo. Last year, she had also adopted a tigress in Ranchi and she had sent in a cheque of R2 lakh for the upkeep of the animal.”
Ownership will remain with the zoo, the source adds, but Priyanka has undertaken the financial aspect of the animal, in terms of daily supply of food, healthcare etc.
“Priyanka took this initiative as she is trying to help protect the species. She is giving financial help to a group of Rhesus monkeys in the same zoo as well. She hopes that more people pledge to support and help these animals,” adds the source.
