Box Office: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Jazbaa First Day Occupancy

The much awaited comeback film ‘Jazbaa’ of Bollywood’s blue-eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is out in theaters. On its release today on Friday, the film is off to a slow start with a moderate occupancy rate of around 20% approx. The film will have to depend on word of mouth and depending on the same the evening occupancy is expected to be better. As the film faces no competition being the only major release this week, ‘Jazbaa’ has a good chance of performing well.

‘Jazbaa’ being Aishwarya Rai’s comeback after a long time has raised the audience’s anticipation. With a star studded cast and experienced direction of Sanjay Gupta, the film has created a lot of buzz. The film’s first look was also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival where Ash was present. The film tells the story of a strong independent lawyer played by Aishwarya, and the hardships faced by her to reunite with her daughter.

‘Jazbaa’ is this Friday’s only big release and along with it are last week’s Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh Is Bliing’ and Irrfan Khan’s ‘Talvar’. Irrfan has back to back releases since he has a prominent role in this film as well. Both the films ‘SIB’ and ‘Talvar’ have had their own share of run at the box office owing to the public holiday, and thus Jazbaa has a window of opening to fresh audience who will choose to watch the latest release.

Aishwarya’s last film ‘Guzaarish’ that released five years ago opened to a first day business of 3.82 crore net approx (38 million) while ‘Dhoom 2’ opened to 5.85 crore net approx. There are a lot of factors governing how Ash’s comeback film performs, including its evening occupancy. The film caters to adult audience and thus the evening occupancy is expected to be higher since public of that age group tend to be attracted to evening shows more. After a slow start, we’re waiting to see ‘Jazbaa’s’ first day collection at the box office.
