[tps_footer]Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer film ‘Airlift’ has been applauded for its concept and execution and has also created large numbers in its collections. The film is already declared as the first hit of 2016. With the film even Akshay’s performance as an actor received great compliments.
On it’s second weekend the film collected Rs 112.14 crore net approx. Airlift continued its strong run on its third Monday dropping just 20% from Friday. On second Friday, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore net approx. (Rs 12 million), on second Saturday, film collected Rs 2.25 crore net approx.(Rs 22 million), on it’s second Sunday, Airlift collected Rs 3 crore net approx (Rs 30 million), on it’s third Monday, the film collected Rs 1 crore net approx.
So the total collection till date is Rs 113.14 crore net approx.
The third week should collect around Rs 10 crore net which is better than all the films released last year barring Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bajirao Mastani and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. We feel that the lifetime collections are heading for Rs 120-122 crore net.
The genre of the film was a win- win situation for the collections. The movie released with an adult comedy but due to the mass appeal stole all the collections. The songs of the film were also hummable and created a greater recall value amidst the viewers.
‘Airlift’ revolves around a true story which showcases the scenario of the Gulf war. The movie highlights the time when Kuwait was invaded and thousands of Indians were stranded without any hope. The film brings into light the largest evacuation mission carried out by India.[/tps_footer]
