MUMBAI: Two Hindi films – Badmaash Company and It’s A Wonderful Afterlife hit theaters this week. Yash Raj Films’ Badmaash Company, which is directed by Parmeet Sethi, has done decent business at the box office in India on its opening day. The movie did net business of Rs 38.50 million (Rs 3.85 crore) on Friday.
On the other hand, Gurinder Chadha’s It’s A Wonderful Afterlife has taken a very poor opening. The movie did a net business of Rs 2 million (Rs 20 lakhs) in its opening day in India.
Additionally, Hollywood film Iron Man 2 was also released across India on 7 May.
Last week’s release Housefull is still holding at the box office. The movie saw net collections of Rs 27 million (Rs 2.70 crore) on Thursday and Rs 18.50 million (Rs 1.85 crore) on its second Friday. The total India net collections of Housefull after one week stand at approximately Rs 452 million (Rs 45.2 crore), whereas the movie’s eight days net total at the box office is Rs 471.50 million (Rs 47.15 crore).
As was reported earlier by Businessofcinema.com, in its opening weekend, Housefull did a net business of Rs 355 million (Rs 35.50 crore) in India.
Housefull stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Randhir Kapoor, Boman Irani, Chunky Pandey, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan. It is directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. On the other hand, Badmaash Company stars Shahid Kapur, Anushka Sharma and Vir Das.
