Anurag Kashyap’s film Bombay Velvet opened to a very poor start on Friday, May 15. The film only managed to pull around Rs. 5.25 crore net (52.5 million) on its first day at the Box Office. Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer film Bombay Velvet failed drastically to impress the audiences throughout the weekend. The film had a very slow first weekend business at the Box Office. Bombay Velvet minted around 16.25 crore net (162.5 million) in its first weekend.
The romantic drama thriller is struggling to do a decent business at the Box Office since its day one. With a slow start like the one Bombay Velvet opened to, the film hardly managed to pick up any speed on its second and third day. Aura of 60’s, classy outfits and lavish sets didn’t manage to attract and impress the moviegoers. A lot was expected from the film as it stars some big names from Bollywood and also because it is directed by Anurag Kashyap, the filmmaker who gave us films like Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur. This fate of Bombay Velvet at the Box Office surely has surprised us all. We have seen a lot of films hit the floor at the Box Office, but the first weekend business that Bombay Velvet grossed is one of a kind.
Since Bombay Velvet did a poor business like this on its first weekend, we can only imagine the business it will do the coming weekdays.
