Deepika-Padukone-Ram-Leela

Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela has finally broken an eight year jinx for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and has entered the 100 crore club. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last hit film as a director was Black, way back in the year 2005.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, released on November 15, 2013 has grossed Rs 1.06 billion (106 Crore) nett in its third week.

In Mumbai circuit the film has proved to be a blockbuster and will be the eighth highest grossing film ever. However, in the North the performance has been quite opposite. The film is not even in the top third grossers in Delhi/UP and a similar story in East Punjab.

This could be a great moment of relief for Bhansali, because the film has been in news since the time it went on floor and even during the time of it’s release.

Some of the films that have made to the prestigious 100 crore club in the year 2013 are Hrithik Roshan starrer Krissh 3, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Indra Kumar’s adult comedy Grand Masti and last but not the least Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Race 2. Deepika Padukone has been the one who has had the maximum number of 100 crore films this year.

One reason for Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela to have sustained and had a steady run is of course Bhansali himself, but the other reason could be kind of films that have been released after it, giving a clean one month run to the film. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (November 22, 2013) followed by Bullett Raja (November 29, 2013), R… Rajkumar (December 6, 2013) and last but not the least Jackpot (December 13, 2013).

It’s Dhoom 3, which would hit the theaters on December 20, 2103 to divert the audience towards it. Till then, make hay while the sun shines.
