Box Office: Dhobi Ghat nets Rs 88 million in opening weekend

MUMBAI: Kiran Rao’s directorial debut Dhobi Ghat has done net business of approximately Rs 88 million (Rs 8.80 crore) in its opening weekend. 

While the movie’s opening day collections were approximately Rs 29 million (Rs 2.90 crore), Saturday and Sunday net collections stood at approximately Rs 32 million (Rs 3.20 crore) and Rs 27 million (Rs 2.70 crore) respectively.

Commenting on the response the movie got, Aamir Khan said, "I can see that the film has evoked extreme responses… as I had expected actually. Well, I had tried my best to say that this film is not for everyone. For those of you who the film has touched so deeply, K and I are so happy. Thank you for your overwhelming response, it has been most rewarding. So happy that the film connected so deeply with some of you. That is how it has been for us too. Thank you."
