On Valentine’s Day we have two intense romantic films clashing at the box office. Katrina Kaif- Aditya Roy Kapur starrer Fitoor and Pulkit Samrat-Yami Gautam starrer Sanam Re. Both the films have opened below the mark and are still struggling at the box office. On day two too, both the films lost its momentum, and have not performed well at the box office.
Fitoor had very low collections on day one, the film collected Rs 3.50 crore net approx. (Rs 35 million). On day two, Fitoor had a growth of 20%, and the film collected Rs 4.25 crore net approx. (Rs 42 million). So the total collections on day two is Rs 7.75 crore net approx.( Rs 77 million)
This kind of box office number is not good, as the fate of the film depended on Saturday collections. Had this costly film have a 50% growth, the film would have had a decent trend.
Sanam Re too had very low collections on day one, the film collected Rs 3.50 crore net approx. (Rs 35 million). On day two, the film had a very limited growth. Had the film have had a 20 % growth like Fitoor, it would have been enough for this film. Though the film has not fared so bad, it’s tried to sustain on day two.
On day two, Sanam Re collected Rs 3.75 crore net approx. So the total collections on day two is Rs 7.25 crore net approx.( Rs 72 million). The two day numbers are still not so bad, but with an almost flat trend on Saturday, it means the film may not run for too long.
Despite having A-list actors including Katrina, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Tabu, director Abhishek Kapoor’s film could not impress. The film is an adaptation of the classic novel ‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens. Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela marked Divya Khosla Kumar’s second directorial venture. Both films revolved around the central theme of love.
