BOX OFFICE: No Major Rise For ‘Gippi’ In Opening Weekend

‘Gippi’ directed by debutant director Sonam Nair has seen no major rise in collections on the opening weekend.

MUMBAI: Karan Johar’s relatively small-budget film ‘Gippi’, directed by debutant director Sonam Nair has seen no major rise in collections on the opening weekend.

The film, which stars teenagers Riya Vij and Taaha Shah, along with Divya Dutta, has failed to make a mark at the box office in its debut weekend.

‘Gippi’, which released last Friday, had a dull opening day at the ticketing counters . As reported, the coming-of-age film, targeted at the youth audience, garnered collections of only about Rs 8.6 million (Rs 86 lacs) net, on Day 1, Friday.

The situation was very marginally better on Saturday and Sunday, with collections ranging between Rs 11 million (Rs 1.1 crore net) and Rs 13 million (Rs 1.3 crore) net on Day 2 and Day 3 respectively.

The three day total of ‘Gippi’ is approximately Rs 32.6 million (Rs 3.26 crore) net.
