MUMBAI: Aamir Khan Productions’ Peepli [Live] has taken a decent opening at the box office on its opening day.
According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, the movie did a net business of approximately Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore) across India on Friday.
The movie is distributed by UTV Motion Pictures and has been released across 600+ screens. Given the genre of the movie and that too sans any known star, the opening for Peepli [Live] is considered to be great. However, it comes as no surprise since Aamir Khan backed it with strong promotions.
Word of mouth for the movie has also been good and the movie is likely to have a good run over the weekend. Sunday, 15 August being a holiday will help the movie’s performance at the box office too.
Peepli [Live] is directed by debutant Anusha Rizvi. It stars Naseruddin Shah, Raghuveer Yadav, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffer, Vishal O Sharma, Aamir Bashir, Sitaram Panchal and Yugal Kishore.
