Box Office: Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 First Day Collection

Bollywood romantic comedy film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2′ that released yesterday has done well on its first day at box office. The youth oriented film had a good opening on morning shows and has managed to collect Rs. 5.50 crores net approx (55 million). This is much higher than the film’s original released in 2011 which did not even collect Rs. 1 crore net approx. PKP2 might experience a rise of 20-30% in its Saturday business.

‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ has performed surprisingly well leaving films like ‘Jazbaa,’ ‘Bombay Velvet’, ‘Piku’ and ‘Katti Batti’ behind in its first day collection. Which is a commendable thing since the latter are big budget films. The film has enjoyed good word of mouth as well as hype due to its prequel. Being a Delhi based film, it has enjoyed more audience in Delhi/UP regions. Mumbai performance has been comparatively lower.

A normal weekend trend would be required to see it touch the 20 crore mark but only time will tell if it achieves the same. The film enjoyed good occupancy rate of 20-30% on day one morning shows and approx 40-45% occupancy rate in the Delhi regions which is pretty good. After a good first day run at box office, we’re waiting to see ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2′s first weekend collection.

‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ is the sequel of its original film of the same name which saw the story of three bachelors and the turmoil in their relationship. Other than the lead actor Kartik Aaryan and actresses Nushrat Bharucha and Sonalli Sehgall, all the other actors are newcomers. The first film that released in 2011 was a huge hit among youngsters owing to its fresh and relatable concept. The film’s sequel has been directed by Luv Ranjan and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Panorama Studios Production.
