Riding on bad reviews, R… Rajkumar failed to impresse audiences in North India on Friday, mainly Delhi, Punjab and UP. The film registered in the range of 30-35% occupancy on Day 1 in those circuits.
While, in Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Bihar circuits, the Shahid Kapoor starrer found decent audience. Friday collections of R… Rajkumar are in the range of Rs 88.6 million (8.86 crore) nett. This makes it the biggest opener for Shahid Kapoor; his last biggest opening day collection was Mausam (Rs 70 million nett) in 2011.
Major business for R… Rajkumar came from single screens, while multiplexes saw a dull response, even on weekend. Single screen audiences in Chhatisgarh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra have lauded the film over weekend.
R… Rajkumar collected in the range of Rs 83 million (8.30 crore) nett on Saturday. Sunday saw a small rise in collections, with approximately Rs 106 million (10.60 crore) nett – mainly from the single screen dominated circuits.
The total weekend collection of R… Rajkumar is in the range of Rs 277.6 million (27.76 crore) nett. With the trends on weekend, Shahid Kapoor has also proved for himself – that he can manage good at single screens too.

Bansi Sharma, 23 from Mumbai said, “It’s an entertaining film, I loved it.” Jasmin Rozia, 19, from Surat, Gujarat, who had arrived with his entire group of friends said, “It’s very much like Dabangg. But really refreshing to see Shahid Kapoor. We enjoyed it.” Nisha Garg, 34, a housewife from Nagpur, who watched the film with her family said, “Kids enjoyed it, but I didn’t like it. Sonakshi must really stop doing such roles.”
We also caught up with a group of around 20-24 girls, all in their late teens in Ahmedabad, who eagerly waited for the first show since many days. Rujuta Shah, the group leader said, “We all are die-hard Shahid Kapoor fans, and it’s definitely a must watch for all Shanatics.”
R… Rajkumar is directed by Prabhu Deva, and produced by Viki Rajani and Sunil Lulla. The film also features Sonu Sood, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mukul Dev and Asrani in key roles, besides Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha.
