MUMBAI: ‘Chennai Express’ has just crossed the Rs 2 billion (Rs 200 crore) mark last week and in the start of its fourth week, we have ‘Satyagraha’ releasing. The film based on a socio-political issue, has huge names like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan among others.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the film has done decent business. It is a good time for realistic films like ‘Madras Cafe’ and now ‘Satyagraha’.

‘Satyagraha’ collected close to Rs 102.3 million (Rs 10.23 crore) net on its first day, that is on 30 August.

The film has done exceedingly well in the northern territories of the country. The Northern Indian states along with Rajasthan and Gujarat have contributed to the good numbers.

With Saturday and Sunday, and good word of mouth, and such a timely political issue, these numbers might see an increase. Prepare for a good weekend!
