MUMBAI: PVR Pictures and Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Shanghai’ starring Emraan Hashmi, Abhay Deol, and Kalki Koechlin failed to gather steam at the box office on its first day with business of Rs 32.5 million (Rs 3.25 crore) net. Mildly picking up on Saturday, but seeing a dull Sunday, the total three day figures were in the range of Rs 125 million (Rs 12.50 crore) net  

‘Shanghai’ has received very tough competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’ directed by Prabhu Deva, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Collecting a first week total in the range of Rs 770 million (Rs 77 crore) net, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ began second week on a strong note.
