MUMBAI: Words are insufficient to describe just how impressively ‘Chennai Express’ has built up its “full steam ahead” momentum at the box office.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures, this Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer has set a multitude of records tumbling at the box office.
Breaching the staggering Rs 2 billion (Rs 200 crore) mark a few days short of its second week, crushing the highest collection record held by Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’, and still being an unstoppable tour de force at the box office: all this, and more, has come to signify the action rom com masala potboiler.

The fourth weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) figures were in the range of Rs 37.4 million (Rs 3.74 crore) net. As reported, ‘Chennai Express’ collected about Rs 174.6 million (Rs 17.46 crore) net in the third week.
The total collection at the end of the fourth weekend, stands at an unmatched Rs 2.19 billion (Rs 219.34 crore).
