A coming together of sorts, of actor-producer Anil Kapoor and Bollywood production company Disney has the industry abuzz. Anil Kapoor has joined hands with Disney, for his daughters’ Rhea and Sonam Kapoor’s upcoming film, Khoobsurat.
Walt Disney Studios announced this morning that their next film, Khoobsurat, will be a joint venture with Anil Kapoor, his producer daughter Rhea Kapoor, and the studio. Directed by ad filmmaker Shashank Ghosh, Khoobsurat will star fashionista Sonam Kapoor in the leading role.
Anil Kapoor, who has been scaling the peaks of success for a while now, has even found superstardom on the small screen. His TV venture 24 is going great guns, and it is no surprise that he is able to take the plunge, and back projects he believes in now.
Khoobsurat will also feature Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah and Amir Raza Hussain. An official remake of the 1980 super hit comedy, starring Rekha and Rakesh Roshan, Khoobsurat has already gone on the floors. Sonam tweeted about beginning the film last week: “Last day in mumbai! Heading to bikaner Tom to start Khoobsurat.”
The film tells the story of Sonam Kapoor, as Mili, an exuberant, vivacious and fun girl who turns the lives of a royal family upside down.
Sonam’s sister, and the film’s producer Rhea Kapoor, was ecstatic to announce the news, when she said: “We are so excited to bring you Khoobsurat with Disney India. Disney always stood for wholesome and heartwarming entertainment and we look forward to creating that with this film as well. Shashank’s take on the film is unexpected, colourful and fun everything you find in your favourite Disney movie!”
