American entertainment company Miramax has appointed independent producer David Thwaites as the new Vice President of Films with immediate effect. He will be reporting to Miramax’s executive VP of film and television Zanne Devine. Thwaites will head the production and development activities at the film company.
David Thwaites who is an independent producer has produced several films including the recently released Crouching Tiger II: The Green Destiny. While his time as co-president of production at Phoenix Pictures, David also led the development of several projects, few of them being Black Swan where lead actress Natalie Portman won the Academy Award for Best Actress, What To Expect When You’re Expecting, Shanghai, License To Wed, Miss Potter and All The King’s Men.
David Thwaites expressed excitement on his new appointment and stated, “I’m thrilled to be joining the fantastic team at Miramax. I can’t wait to begin working on Miramax’s rich and diverse development slate, and I look forward to bringing in new projects for all of us to dive into.”
Miramax’s next film is Ian McKellen starrer Mr. Holmes. After watching endless movies and series portraying the young Sherlock Holmes and the different mindboggling cases solved by him, viewers are in for a treat as Mr. Holmes releasing this year has a different take on the character altogether. Set to release on July 17, 2015 Mr. Holmes is directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon.
Miramax film company has an impressive catalogue of films done previously including the world famous films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2, The Aviator, Finding Neverland, Scream, Hellboy, Ace Ventura, Anger Management, The Amityville Horror, the Dracula series, the Exorcist series, 40 Days And 40 Nights and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Bride and Prejudice amongst others.
