Year 2013: A Great Year For Bollywood

[tps_footer]Year 2013 has been a great year for Bollywood at the Box-Office. On one hand a lot of films managed to do good amount of business and on the other lots of them made it to the 100 crore club with great ease.

The bollywood year began with Race 2 and ended with Dhoom 3, both films made it to the 100 crore club, while the former did set a tread at the Box-Office lets not talk about the latter, because the number of records that Dhoom 3 has already registered and the number of records that it would eventually end up making is an endless saga.

Lets compare the First Half of 2013 to the Second Half:

First Half (January 2013 to June 2013): Bollywood films like Race 2Special 26ABCD – Any Body Can DanceKai Po CheSaheb, Biwi Aur Gangster ReturnsChashme BuddoorAashiqui 2Shootout at WadalaYeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and last but not the least Raanjhanaa were released. Out of these Race 2Aashiqui 2Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Raanjhanaa made it to 100 crore club.

Second Half (July 2013 to December 2013): Bollywood films like B.A. PassShip Of TheseusChennai ExpressShuddh Desi RomanceGrand MastiThe LunchboxBhaag Milkha BhaagShahidKrrish 3Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and last but not the least Dhoom 3 were released. Now most of the films in this quarter either made it to the 100 crore club or were critically acclaimed.

However the films that fell flat at the Box-Office were HimmatwalaYamla Pagala Deewani 2Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai DobaaraSatyagrahaPhata Poster Nikhla HeroBesharamBoss and Bullet Raja.

Some small films that made a mark were Kai Po CheB.A.PassShahid and Ship Of TheseusThe Lunchbox and Club 60 once again proved a point that content is king.

Now its time to welcome the year 2014 with films like Dedh IshqiyaJai HoHasee Toh PhaseeGundayHighway2 StatesHeropantiGulaab GangP.K.HumshakalsQueenHappy New Year and many more lined up.

It looks like this year too would be a rocking year for Bollywood.[/tps_footer]
