LOS ANGELES: Warner Bros. announced that Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore will reunite for a brand new Romantic-Comedy.
We loved them in ‘The Wedding Singer’ and we loved them in ’50 First Dates’. Now, once again Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are all set to make us laugh and love!
The word around is that the duo will be pairing up for the third time for a rom-com that revolves around the fallout from a disastrous blind date. The untitled project will feature the ’50 First Dates’ pair as two divorced parents who find themselves stuck together at a holiday resort, with their kids in tow and have to find a way to get past their awkwardness as hilarity ensues.
The film’s screenplay, by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera, has been making the rounds since 2007 and was first pitched under the title “Blended.” We hear that Sandler was confirmed for the project in February itself while Barrymore was only rumoured to have been considered for the lead.
However Warner Bros. has now confirmed that they have finalized Drew Barrymore for the role. The film will be directed by Frank Coraci, who also directed the pair in their first film together ‘The Wedding Singer’ and Mike Karz will produce, through Sandler’s Happy Madison production company.
Lately, Drew and Adam seem to have been struggling with getting box office hits. Sandler’s recent comedy ‘That’s My Boy’ fared poorly at the box office, while Barrymore hasn’t headlined a financially successful movie since her 2007 rom-com ‘Music and Lyrics’ opposite Hugh Grant. Hopefully this collaboration ought to bring some luck to the otherwise down falling acting careers of Barrymore and Sandler.
