While the actress has had an early detection possible, she had previously lost her mother Marcheline Bertrand who faught ovarian cancer for 8 long years. The actress recently lost her aunt Debbie Martin who also was diagnosed with breast cancer.
In the age of the cosmetic culture luring the world to hide behind the coat of plastic and artificial make-up, Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy just comes as a bold step. The biggest fact however, is that since the BRCA gene test is good enough to detect early signs of cancer, it has proved beneficial in early detection for Angelina Joile.
Rather than going for several chemotherapy sessions, which are painful and will take long for a patient to recover, it is just right in the case of Angelina Jolie to opt for a simpler solution – Double Mastectomy.
The world may be in awe for her looks, but now with that double mastectomy, it will be difficult to say if Angelina Jolie has the crazy fan following behind her. But why don’t we look at the brighter picture?
The mastectomy just increases Angelina Jolie’s life span by a few extra years, considering if she would have opted for the painful chemotherapy otherwise. This means fans, will get to see more of Angelina Jolie on screen.
The second thing is why would an actress of Angelina Jolie’s stature, undergo a procedure which would be career threatening? The fact that Angelina Jolie has done it now, itself signifies the strong conviction and belief that the actress has and her decision to take the bold step is right.
At the end, it is all about personal choices, one could say. And Angelina Jolie had made her choice pretty clear and loud. So there’s nothing more to it.
The actress made an appearance with hubby Brad Pitt during the premiere of ‘World War Z’ and looked stunning as ever. Not once, did life seem different for her.
