MUMBAI: Dharma Productions’ ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, directed by Ayan Mukherjee, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin, is well on its way to becoming a Rs 100 crore generator.
Going by the Day 4 figures, it is very likely that the Ranbir-Deepika starrer ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ will cross the 100-crore mark easily in a matter of days. On Monday, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ did a roaring business of Rs 129 million (12.9 crore) net, which is phenomenal, considering Monday’s bring about a drastic drop in collections for most films.
The four-day total for ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is in the range of Rs 753.6 million (Rs 75.36 crore) net.
As reported, the film witnessed a record-breaking opening weekend, amassing a mammoth opening on 31 May, Friday to the tune of Rs 197.5 million (Rs 19.75 crore). Saturday, Day 2 was even better, with collections of about Rs 202.3 million (Rs 20.23 crore). The three day total stood at a staggering Rs 624.6 million (Rs 62.46 crore).
But with Day 4 collections of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ beating the Day 4 figures of Salman Khan’s blockbuster ‘Dabangg 2’, Karan Johar truly has a winner on his hands. In comparison, ‘Dabangg 2’ had done slightly better on day 1, setting cash registers ringing to the tune of Rs 210 million (21 crore) net on 21 December, 2012.
Also noteworthy is the fact that ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ opened on a non-holiday weekend, making the collections that much more impressive.
