“It’s pretty funny because she was pregnant when we were shooting, but she wanted to do her own stunt falls. Kate Winslet did a couple. She’s you know, very careful about it, and then finally Neil Burger was like, okay I’m too nervous – you can’t do this anymore.” stated Divergent author Veronica Roth.
Kate Winslet was very persistent about her role in Divergent, even though she knew that she as pregnant. “We had to refit all of her wardrobe, but then there is a scene where she fights Shailene and she was like, I wanna do it and I said stop it you are pregnant. But she still wanted to do the action sequences. Kate Winslet is a committed actress and she’s a committed mother, too. But she is just completely there, and you kind of just have to stop her.” informed Neil Burger the director of the film.
Divergent is an upcoming American science fiction action film directed by Neil Burger and is based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth.
Kate Winslet has roughly twenty minutes of screen time in Divergent and she is very happy with the length of her role as well as her character. “I was five months pregnant when we did the movie. In actual fact, I found it quite frustrating that I couldn’t be even more in the film as I was pregnant. I was very fortunate, though, that we did re-shoot one of a key action scene just four weeks ago. I was thrilled because my baby was on the outside of my body.” stated an extremely ecstatic and thrilled Kate.
