Kochadaiiyaan MAIN COVERDeepika Padukone, who will be next seen in Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan is very happy to be associated with the project and stated that she said yes to the film primarily because of Rajinikanth‘s association with it. However, Deepika was not the first choice for Kochadaiiyaan.

Anushka Shetty was initially approached, post which it was offered to both Asin Thottumkal and Vidya Balan and lastly Katrina Kaif but then things could not be worked out and finally Soundarya approached Deepika Padukone.

Deepika agreed to be part of Kochadaiiyaan for emotional reasons. When Rajinikanth‘s daughter Soundarya, who is the director of this film, approached Deepika Padukone, the actress agreed to be a part of the project without even hearing the concept, script or her role as she felt it was a huge honour for her to share screen space with the legend, Rajinikanth. Deepika felt it was a great opportunity for her to interact with the star and discuss cinema with him.

In February 2014, Soundarya revealed that Rajinikanth felt very awkward while shooting romantic shots with Deepika.

The music and background score of the film was composed by A. R. Rahman, who was initially hesitant to work on the project but started after he felt the positive energy and the commitment.

Fashion designer Neeta Lulla worked on the looks of each character, including the lead role portrayed by Rajinikanth. According to Neeta Lulla, Kochadaiiyaan required a lot of research. Around hundred and fifty costumes per character were designed on paper and out of those, twenty five costumes were selected and detailed.

Kochadaiiyaan is the country’s first motion capture technology film, which is directed by Soundarya, who is making her directorial debut with this project. The film also stars Jackie Shroff, R. Sarathkumar, Nassar, Aadhi, Shobana and others in the supporting cast.

The Tamil version of Kochadaiiyaan is set for an April 11, 2014 release. Here’s wishing the entire team all the best.
