Former “James Bond” star Roger Moore, passed away on Tuesday after battling cancer.

British actor Roger Moore, best known for playing James Bond, passed away at the age of 89. The actor, who played a spy in seven Bond films including ‘Live’ and ‘Let Die’ and ‘A View To A Kill’, died of cancer yesterday. Moore died yesterday in Switzerland after a short but brave battle with cancer; family confirmed the news on twitter.

Sir Roger’s family confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he had died after “a short but brave battle with cancer”.

The message shared on the actor’s official Twitter account reads, “With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated.”

His kids wrote, “the affection our father felt whenever he walked on to a stage or in front of a camera buoyed him hugely and kept him busy working into his 90th year, through to his last appearance in November 2016 on stage at London’s Royal Festival Hall.”

“The capacity crowd cheered him on and off stage, shaking the very foundations of the building just a short distance from where he was born.”

The statement, which was shared on Moore’s official twitter account was signed by his children Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian.

Reportedly, private funeral will take place in Monaco, Europe as per Moore’s wish

Moore got worldwide fame for playing secret agent James Bond, also known as 007. He played Bond in seven films released between 1973 and 1985. They include “Live and Let Die,” “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “A View to a Kill.”
