It comes as a shock to everyone from Hollywood industry and across the world as it was announced that the man behind Titanic’s music, composer James Horner has passed away in a plane crash near Santa Barbara in California on Monday. His assistant Sylvia Patrycja made the official announcement through Facebook and stated that Horner was himself flying the plane. The 61-year-old composer was flying one of his five owned aircrafts.
Patrycja wrote, “We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road.” Reportedly The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash. Friends and family of the composer have requested for privacy and have refrained from making any statements at the moment.

In a career span of over four decades, James Horner has won two Academy Awards for his legendary work on the film Titanic, of which the megahit song My Heart Will Go On sung by Celine Dion is till date cherished by millions. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Aliens, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids were some of the hits given by the composer in the 1980s. His famous work in 90s include films Braveheart, Apollo 13, Jumanji, Legends of the Fall, Titanic, The Mask of Zorro.
James Horner has worked with major studios including Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros, Miramax, DreamWorks, Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox and many more. His work in the films A Beautiful Mind, Troy, Avatar, The Karate Kid, The Amazing Spider-Man were a big hit as well. James Horner has numerous Oscar and BAFTA nominations in his name where his films Aliens, Field of Dreams, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind, A House of Sand and Fog and Avatar have all been nominated for Oscar.
