American rapper Kanye West has reportedly received an honorary doctorate from the same institute that he dropped out of. The multiple Grammy winner is now Dr. Kanye West after receiving his doctorate from the American Academy of Art in Chicago for his ‘transformative, genre-defying work’.
Known for his unapologetic behavior, Mr. West continued to amuse everyone with his acceptance speech as well. The FourFiveSeconds singer stated, “I am a pop artist. So my medium is public opinion and the world is my canvas. ‘I’m sorry’ is something that you can use a lot, it gives you the opportunity to give your opinion, apologize for it, and give you opinion again (laughs). You should not be sorry for your opinions!”
During his speech the 37-year-old rapper recalled the time when he was giving a lecture at Oxford University and he had brought up the name of his school (American Academy of Art, Chicago) and stated that life would have been much easier if he just had a college degree. Kanye West has garnered attention throughout his career for his amazing works in the field of music as well as his controversial behavior with fellow musicians.
Kanye West who is a college dropout also has a Grammy winning studio album of the same name that is ‘The College Dropout’. He has mentioned many times earlier about his struggle and brutal reality of being mocked for his decision of walking out of college to pursue his music career. He has won multiple Grammies amongst other awards for his rap albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Graduation and Late Registration. Kanye West ranked number one in Times Magazine’s Most Influential People in the World list of 2015.
