Hugh Jackman is back as ‘The Wolverine’ and in this spin-off sequel’s full length trailer we see the ‘adamantium-clawed’ superhero weakened and fighting for his life in Japan.
The film is set sometime after 2006’s ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ following the superhero ensemble’s disintegration, Logan has discarded his previous life, though still mourning the loss of Jean Grey, is travelling through the mountains. Vulnerable for the first time, we see our favourite super-hero being pushed beyond his physical and emotional limits as he confronts lethal samurai steel while struggling against his own immortality. The trailer shows him losing his self-healing power as part of what appears to be a devious conspiracy.
‘Wolverine’ is by far one of the most popular characters of the comic series, in three other movies (if you don’t count ‘X-Men: First Class’ where he made a guest appearance). The film borrows it’s storyline from a popular 1982 Limited Series ‘Wolverine’ by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. The screenplay is by Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback and Scott Frank; the film is directed by James Mangold of ‘Walk The Line’ fame and is produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, Hugh Jackman, Hutch Parker and John Palermo. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, and Tao Okamoto.
This Superhero film is the sixth instalment to the ‘X-Men’ series and is all set to be released on 24 July 2013 in various international markets, 25 July 2013 in Australia and on 26 July 2013 in the United States.
