Adam Sandler, Kevin James to play gay couple

MUMBAI: CBS sitcom The King of Queens star Kevin James and comedian Adam Sandler have teamed up to play firemen pretending to be a gay couple so that they can get domestic partnership benefits in their upcoming film, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

According to www.Hollywood.tv founder Sheeraz Hasan, the film will be released on 20 July 2007. “This movie says there’s nothing wrong with being gay. There’s just something wrong with being gay for Kevin James,” Sandler has reportedly told Newsweek.

Sandler’s popularity continues at the box office. His last film Click, which focuses on a workaholic architect who finds a universal remote that allows him to fast-forward and rewind to different parts of his life, raked in $40 million on its opening weekend and went on to make $373 million worldwide.

Although many of his earlier films were almost universally despised by movie critics, his recent films, beginning with Punch Drunk Love, have received positive reviews. As a result, many critics now believe that Sandler possesses considerable acting ability that they believed had been previously wasted on poorly written scripts and characters with no development, adds Hasan.
