MUMBAI: Timeless Audrey, a traveling exhibit based on the life and career of actress, icon and humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn, will make its European premiere at Berlin’s Hauptbahnhof, the city’s main railway station from 13 March – 10 May, 2009.
The exhibit offers over 1,200 items belonging to Hepburn, each artfully displayed in eleven individual “time capsules” spanning her life. Items on display include Hepburn’s private wardrobe, costumes, jewelry, letters, books, home movie clips, wedding dresses and numerous other treasured memorabilia.
Timeless Audrey is a fundraising tool that supports UNICEF’s “All Children In School” educational initiative aimed at bringing 115,000,000 children, two-thirds of whom are girls, a quality basic education. Education, Miss Hepburn believed, gives children the strongest start in life and offers the best hope for their future.
The exhibit was created by the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund (www.audreyhepburn.com), a U.S. non-profit organization started in 1994 by Audrey’s sons Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti and long time companion, Robert Wolders. Both Sean and Luca will attend the opening of Timeless Audrey in Berlin on 12 March.
“We are very pleased and proud that Timeless Audrey chose to open its European tour with Berlin after a very successful tour in Japan. For us, the exhibition is a fundraising tool that continues Audrey Hepburn’s relentless work on behalf of UNICEF. The revenues raised will go to support our joint venture with UNICEF, ‘all children in school’ through UNICEF Germany,” says Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund exhibition representative Agnes Fernandes.
Timeless Audrey is being brought to Berlin exclusively by The German Railways, the publicity association of the main railways station, the Berlin S-Bahn, the BVG and DB Schenker and produced by Acksteiner events gmbh.
