Blockbuster donates 20000 DVDs to US army

MUMBAI: Blockbuster Inc., the provider of in-home movie and game rentals, is once again teaming up with the USO to donate more than 20,000 DVDs for US military men and women stationed around the world. The DVDs include top hits such as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and The Bourne Ultimatum, as well as holiday classics such as It’s a Wonderful Life.

Blockbuster also made sure to include something for everyone with movies from every genre including comedy, action/drama and sci-fi/horror. The USO will distribute the DVDs to more than 30 USO centers located both stateside and abroad.

Blockbuster Inc., senior vice president, corporate communications, Karen Raskopf said, “We hope the movies provide some welcome entertainment to our US service men and women who are a long way from home serving our country. This is just our way of showing our men and women in uniform that Blockbuster cares and we are thinking of them this holiday season.”

Blockbuster donates movies to military personnel throughout the year, particularly during the holiday season.

“Since World War II, the USO has supported military personnel and their families around the world, helping to boost their morale and serving as the link between them and the American people. This holiday season, with the help of supporters, like Blockbuster, we continue to provide a home away from home to service men and women around the world,” added senior vice president, marketing and corporate communications, John Hanson.
