Dailymotion launches Friday Film Fest to showcase films

MUMBAI: Dailymotion has launched Friday Film Fest, a weekly event that will showcase a single feature-length film available on the site.

The films selected for Friday Film Fest will be chosen from Dailymotion’s vast catalogue of high-quality entertainment content. They will represent a combination of exclusive and non-exclusive titles across a range of genres including the most compelling documentaries and Hollywood features. The titles will be sourced from Dailymotion’s licensed content partners, which include Cinetic Media, Hulu, Sony (Crackle), Renderyard, and more. Each week’s film will be accompanied by a customized homepage and portal.

In celebration of Black History Month, the first film to be featured for Friday Film Fest will be AFRICA UNITE. The film, a tribute to reggae icon Bob Marley and his family, comes from one of Dailymotion’s newest content partners, SnagFilms. SnagFilms brings the best nonfiction films to audiences online and promotes viral web distribution through virtual movie theater widgets. Chronicling the Marley family’s first visit to Ethiopia in 2005, the film is simultaneously a concert tribute, Marley family travelogue, and humanitarian documentary.

"Through content partners such as SnagFilms, Dailymotion now has a strong catalogue of feature-length film entertainment, and we are delighted to provide our viewers with a weekly event built around high-quality film. Friday Film Fest is a great opportunity for our audience to discover and enjoy great films at a time of the week when they may have time for a ’sit back‘ viewing experience," said  Dailymotion US general manager Joy Marcus.
