Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours gets 6 Oscar nominations; AR Rahman bags 2

MUMBAI: Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours has been nominated in six categories in the 83rd Annual Academy Awards with Indian music maestro AR Rahman bagging 2 Oscar nominations for Original Score and Original Song for the film.

127 Hours Oscar Nominations are as follows: Best Picture, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Actor in a Leading Role for James Franco, Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and Film Editing.

On the other hand, Sony Pictures has received 17 nominations at the Oscars with The Social Network leading with eight nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay among others.
 
The British monarchy saga The King’s Speech has received 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor –  Colin Firth (already bagged the Golden Globe this year), Best Supporting actress – Helena Bonham Carter and Best Supporting actor Geoffrey Rush. The King’s Speech is set to release in India on 25 February. Some of the other categories that The King’s Speech has been nominated in are: Best original score, Tom Hooper for Best Director, Best original screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best costume design, Best film editing and Best sound mixing.
