Disney’s Cindy Rose to open MIPTV’s gaming & online seminar

MUMBAI: Disney Interactive Media Group senior vice president and managing director Cindy Rose will be opening MIPTV Digital Forum’s Cross Platform Gaming and Online Worlds Seminar with a keynote on 2 April. The 46th MIPTV entertainment content market will take place in Cannes from 30 March to 3 April 2009.

Rose, who heads Disney’s Interactive Media Group, will be headlining the MIP Digital Forum’s Cross Platform Gaming and Online Worlds Seminar with a keynote, featuring Disney’s virtual world and gaming environment, like Club Penguin and Disney’s other successes in the gaming sector. Rose will discuss how businesses like Disney are working to make the cross platform consumer experience a reality. Through the integration of the videogames, online and mobile businesses and in close partnership with the TV and film businesses, Disney is able to create on and offline content that gives children their favorite characters and stories wherever they are and whenever they want them.

The Cross Platform Gaming and online Worlds Seminar at MIP Digital Forum will be focusing on how gaming, TV and film sectors can work together effectively to create major business synergies. The spotlight will be on the impact of communities and user generated content in gaming, as well as the future of the traditional gaming genre, as casual gaming grows.

The seminar will be chaired by European Games Developers Federation chairman Fred Hasson and executive director Red Bedlam. Other speakers will include : TV industry veteran MTVNe’s former director and Bass Rock Media director Simon Guild, Quantic Dream Co-CEO and executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumière,  Polar Productions Ltd scriptwriter & games designer Matt Costello, Dubit Ltd director Michel Cassius, Bigpoint GmbH / Bigpoint Inc CCO Nils Holger Hennin,  EveOnline CEO Hilmar Petursson, CCP Games Franck van Oirschot, FanTrust Entertainment Strategies founder & president Catherine Warren, VentureGurus Pte Ltd founder Amit Anand and Let’s Talk Pty Ltd writer/ producer Jim Shomos.

The morning will conclude with a MIP Accelerator Networking lunch, designed to build better dialogue between the gaming and TV industries.

The MIP Digital Forum is MIPTV’s international conference for entertainment and new media, focused on creativity and the new business models developing in the digital world.
