EMI backs Olivennes report against piracy

MUMBAI: EMI Music International welcomes the measures recommended by the Olivennes report which was presented to the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy.

EMI Music International, Chairman and CEO, Jean-François Cecillon stated, “This is a major step forward for the French creative industry. That will, I hope, set a benchmark for other governments which are trying to create the adequate environment to fight piracy.”

According to EMI, the relevance of the recommendations reflects the quality of the work done by the members of the Olivennes Commission and the strong commitment of the SNEP (the French music producers’ trade body) to support the protection of music creation and intellectual property.
