Glu, DreamWorks Animation ink deal for Monsters vs. Aliens mobile game

Mumbai: Glu Mobile has inked an agreement with DreamWorks Animation SKG to develop and publish the mobile game to launch in conjunction with the March 2009 film release of Monsters vs. Aliens. The film reinvents the classic 1950s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy.

"We’re excited to build on our relationship with DreamWorks to bring the mobile game based on this highly-anticipated film to mobile gamers worldwide. The movie plot lends itself perfectly for a mobile game, and our production team is working closely with the DreamWorks team to bring the story and monstrously funny characters to mobile," said Glu Mobile senior vice president global publishing Jill Braff.

The announcement marks the second business collaboration between Glu and DreamWorks. Glu is developing and publishing the mobile game for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa which will launch worldwide in conjunction with the film’s US premiere on 7 November.

"Glu’s demonstrated success as a world-class developer and global publisher make them the ideal partner to bring Monsters vs. Aliens to mobile. We’re pleased to expand upon our relationship with Glu to create the mobile game based on this valuable property," said DreamWorks Animation SKG head Interactive Chris Hewish.

The film includes an all-star cast including Reese Witherspoon as Ginormica, a larger-than-life woman, Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., Seth Rogen, as the jellylike B.O.B. and Will Arnett as the half-ape, half-fish Missing Link. Kiefer Sutherland will speak for General W.R. Monger and Stephen Colbert portrays the President of the United States.
