Jumeirah donates $110,000 auction prize at Cannes

MUMBAI: The Jumeirah Hotel Group donated an auction prize – ‘the Dubai Fantasy Vacation’- worth USD 110,000 to the amfAR gala event, held during the 60th Cannes International Film Festival.

Actors Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell took to the stage to auction the Dubai Fantasy Vacation for four, which included two nights in the Presidential Suite at Burj Al Arab, and four nights in a Malakiya Villa at Madinat Jumeirah. The prize also included Rolls Royce Phantom airport transfers, use of Burj Al Arab’s private yacht, an Aston Martin, and Lamborghini for a day, a helicopter tour from the Burj Al Arab helipad, a desert safari, and Talise spa pampering treatments.

American philanthropist, Lee Anderson, won the bidding which took place at the Le Moulin de Mougins, located in the medieval village of Mougins, on the outskirts of Cannes, helping to raise more than seven million dollars for amfAR on that night alone.

This annual event has consistently attracted the most exciting and diverse guest list of any party held during the Festival and this year’s star-studded affair was no exception, with Harvey Weinstein and Sharon Stone, conducting the much-anticipated live auction with the assistance of Kylie Minogue, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Andy Garcia.
